Car Crashes Into Long Island Home, Slams Through Garage
A car slammed into a house on Long Island early Thursday morning, leaving behind a trail of debris and prompting an emergency evacuation.
According to Nassau County Police, the crash occurred just before 3 a.m. on East Broadway in Woodmere. Authorities say an 18-year-old driver lost control of a 2022 Kia at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and East Broadway, sending the vehicle careening into the garage of the home.
Images from the scene show extensive damage, with bricks scattered across the property and the car embedded in the structure. Police and emergency responders were seen evacuating members of the household, including young children. A family of four was inside the home at the time of the crash, but police said none of them reported any injuries.
CBS News New York reported that the collision left behind a significant mess of bricks and debris. The vehicle appeared to have fully breached the garage area of the home, which is located in the vicinity of East Broadway.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene, according to police. Authorities have not yet provided information on what caused the crash. No criminality is suspected at this time, but officials said the investigation is ongoing.
