A Los Angeles woman recording a mysteriously stopped Waymo robotaxi stumbled into a bizarre discovery: a man wedged inside the vehicle’s trunk.
In the video, she circles the stalled autonomous car before a muffled voice calls out. When she opens the trunk, a disheveled man emerges, claiming he’d been “stuffed in by a group of guys” moments before the vehicle rolled to a stop.
Police arrived on scene but, after speaking with the man, released him without further investigation. Waymo has not yet commented on how the trunk was accessed or how long the ride had been in motion.
The surreal footage, equal parts frightening and chaotic, has quickly ricocheted across social platforms, adding yet another strange chapter to San Francisco’s evolving relationship with self-driving taxis, just hours before a woman reportedly gave birth in another autonomous vehicle within the city.
